Another Mikey Williams-TNT issue?

It seems trouble is developing again in the TNT camp after Mikey Williams came off the bench in the Tropang Giga’s PBA Governors’ Cup debut on Wednesday, 123-119 win over Phoenix.

The prolific Filipino-American guard finished with nine points on 3-of-12 shooting in a little over 28 minutes.

New TNT coach and concurrent team manager Jojo Lastimosa refused to label it as a “benching,” saying he’s also doing a balancing act of getting Williams playing time while hoping to fast-track the progress of rookie Jaydee Tungcab.

But it can be remembered that it was Lastimosa, the manager, who suspended Williams last October for missing practice, reigniting speculation they still don’t see eye-to-eye.

Bal David out as UST coach

University of Santo Tomas is looking to a different direction after parting ways with coach Bal David after just one UAAP men’s basketball season.

David resigned as coach after leading his alma mater to just one win in 14 games in the last season.

That promptly sparked talk of a possible return of champion coach Pido Jarencio, who is free from head-coaching duties after stepping down from his NorthPort job.

Spin.ph, though, learned a lot of things must fall into place before a Jarencio homecoming at UST can happen, beginning with a partnership agreement between UST officials and San Miguel Corp. bigwigs led by sports director Alfrancis Chua.
