THE Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) has formally acknowledged the suspension imposed by the FIVB, saying it is now reviewing the matter while prioritizing the welfare of Filipino athletes and the continuity of the sport.

“The Federation acknowledges receipt of the FIVB communication dated 29 May 2026 and is carefully reviewing its implications with the appropriate advisers and stakeholders,” the PNVF said on Friday.

The statement came nearly two days after the FIVB announced the immediate suspension of the PNVF over governance concerns and alleged violations of the FIVB Code of Ethics that are currently under investigation by an independent Ethics Panel.

The suspension was preceded by a funding freeze from the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and immediately followed by another suspension move from the Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) against the national federation.

While offering no direct response to the allegations raised against it, the PNVF emphasized that its attention remains fixed on ensuring Filipino athletes continue to be represented internationally amid the uncertainty.

“PNVF’s immediate priority is to serve the Filipino athlete, preserve the country’s participation in international volleyball, and ensure continuity for the sport," it said.

The federation likewise struck a conciliatory tone in addressing the escalating situation, expressing respect for the institutions involved and signaling its readiness to engage in discussions moving forward.

“The Federation respects the important roles of FIVB, PSC, POC, and all relevant institutions in Philippine and international sport, and is prepared to engage constructively through the proper channels," it added.

With the AVC Women's Cup in Candon City fast approaching and several national team programs in a state of uncertainty, the PNVF said it is seeking a clearer understanding of both the issues raised against the federation and the path ahead, amid unprecedented uncertainty on both the local and international fronts.
