THE Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) has suspended all funding support for the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) until several issues raised before the PSC board are addressed.
As per an unimpeachable SPIN.ph source following a recent board meeting, chairman Patrick Gregorio cited three key concerns behind the directive.

Most notably, the PSC questioned the “apparent absence of legitimate national team participation” in the coming 2026 AVC Women's Volleyball Cup, despite the PNVF receiving government funding for its operations.
Alas Pilipinas' build-up for the continental meet has been marred by withdrawals by core players such as captain Jia de Guzman, Bella Belen, Shaina Nitura, and Angel Canino.
In their place, a pool led by Alyssa Valdez has been called for national team duty.

Another of the concerns involved what was described as continuing operational misalignment among among the PNVF, PSC, and local organizing committees in the handling and execution of events.
It was further added that the lack of collaboration between the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) and PNVF has compromised the efficiency and quality of event delivery.
Ousted PNVF head Ramon 'Tats' Suzara is currently the AVC president and he works closely with the PSC on major projects such as the landmark Philippine Women's Open, the first WTA 125 tournament to be staged in the country.
The PSC also pointed to an alleged breach of the PNVF’s contractual obligations, in particular, agreed-upon logo visibility and branding commitments during the recent Volleyball World Beach Pro Tour event in Nuvali.

As a result, the PSC directed the suspension of support connected to the PNVF, adding that all issues must first be resolved before any further movement involving forthcoming AVC and Volleyball Nations League events, as well as other federation-led activities.
The PNVF, through president Tony Boy Liao, has yet to issue a statement on the matter.
