WITH HIS pro basketball career under a cloud due to his recent controversies, John Amores is looking at life beyond the court.
Recently he visited a famous Filipino content creator and pawnshop owner Boss Toyo, and he unloaded two interesting items that he said he wants to sell.
First was his Jose Rizal University basketball jersey, specifically the one he wore during the brawl against College of Saint Benilde. Then he showed the Official Letter that he received from Vice President Sara Duterte after the said incident.
When Boss Toyo asked for his price, Amores valued his possessions at P200,000, something that the content creator didn't agree with.
"Mataas yun. Alam mo kung bakit? Steph Curry signature jersey, meron tayong mabibili na P70,000 to P80,000. Other great jerseys meron 40 or 50 [thousand]," said Boss Toyo.
His initial assessment of the two items? According to Boss Toyo: "Eto kasi controversial jersey magkaiba naman yun. We're looking at something (around) P20,000."
Amores was adamant with his initial price, forcing Boss Toyo to call his experts.

Amores agrees to Php67,500
Initially, Toyo called his basketball expert on the phone to which he valued the items at P30-35,000. Then another expert entered the mix and said that the two objects should cost around P15-20,000.
They both see the potential of these items due to the possibilities of Sara Duterte becoming the next president combined with the context surrounding the two objects.
Eventually Amores toned his price down to P100,000, however Toyo countered to Php30,000 though he eventually increased it to P60,000. Amores went down to Php90,000, until Toyo insisted on P65,000.
Eventually both parties agreed at P67,500.

What are Amores' plans with the money
As both went on with a lengthy discussions on their lives, Amores revealed the reasons as to why he opted to let the two items go.
"Habang wala ako sa PBA, pangdadagdag ko siya sa pag-o-open ng business. Meron akong gusto yung lechon manok," explained the PBA player in the video.
Amores even thought of the name of his business: "Amores Mapapa-knockout"
As he revealed his plans, Boss Toyo looked back at his past where he tried to establish his own business, similar to that of Amores. It turns out that Boss Toyo was responsible for the food chain: "Sosmaryosep, Masarap Kahit Walang Manok,"
"Hindi biro yan, umabot ako na 36 branches, nalugi. Sosmaryosep, Masarap Kahit Walang Manok," he revealed.
But it wasn't just about business where the two had a heartwarming discussion. Boss Toyo was aware of Amores' actions and he reflected on the significance of these two controversial items.
"Kapag nakabangon ka, kapag nakabalik ka at naging maayos ka, maganda ito. This will serve as a lesson to everyone with the same na nangyari sa iyo," he explained.
Then he emphasized on a scenario in case Amores once again causes another major blunder in his career.
"Pero kailangan talaga ayusin mo yung buhay mo...Parang binalewala mo yung sinabi ni VP Sara dito, binalewala yung ibang sinabi ng tao, yung pag-uusap natin, binalewala mo lang yung buhay mo."
"Pag nakita ito sa museum ito, (sasabihin nila), 'Walang kwenta yan.' Gusto mo ba yung ganun? Kapag nakita yung gamit mo sabi nila, 'Kilala ko ito, ito yung warfreak.' Walang dating."
"Pero kung ikaw, kung ano man yung nangyari sa buhay mo at naitama mo iyon, e that is something to be proud of," Boss Toyo told Amores.
At the end of the video, Amores hinted on plans where he would regain these items.
"Babalikan ko yung jersey, pag dumating yung panahon. Kahit tumaas, babawian ko siya. Syempre mahalaga sa akin yan."
