IT’S A gun show over at the Pelicans gym, as the New Orleans team uploaded pics of a leaner (but beefier) Zion Williamson.
According to hoops blogger Mark Titus, the hotly hyped NBA rookie shed 25 pounds of fat — and laid on 10 pounds of lean muscle, all during the lockdown.
During his late January NBA debut, Williamson’s weight became a hot topic for ESPN broadcaster Mark Jackson, who said on air: “He’s gotta get in better shape. He’s gotta lose some weight and get in better shape.” The broadcast even displayed a graphic that showed that Zion was the third heaviest player in the NBA.
One not-yet-over pandemic later, and Zion is showing off an impressive new physique that had netizens comparing him to comic book villains Bane and Thanos. Some even quoted lines from 2012 movie The Dark Knight Rises, where Bane was played by an equally ripped Tom Hardy.
It’s been a good week for Williamson. Not only is he gearing up to get back into the action, he’s also been announced as one of the three cover athletes for highly anticipated new video game NBA 2K21, together with Damian Lillard and Kobe Bryant.
That’s good company right there for a player who’s only clocked in 19 games.
So you who callin’ fat now?
