THE YEAR 2024 etched itself into Philippine esports history, a year where champions rose from unexpected corners and dynasties solidified their legacies.
With so much success that the Philippines has attained in esports for the past year and with the scene's optimistic outcome, perhaps we could see more accolades in the future.
But before we could hope for the very best in the new year, let's first look back at what the Philippines has accomplished in 2024.

The reign of the empress
After years of frustrations and close attempts to claim the crown as Queens of the MLBB esports scene, the Philippines has finally reached the pinnacle of success in women's MLBB courtesy of Smart Omega Empress.
A 3-0 victory over Team Vitality ended the dynasty of Indonesia in the women's MLBB scene, and marked a new beginning that the other regions are slowly emerging to challenge the stronghold of Indonesia.
The Empress' road to glory was marked with resilience as the team considered foregoing their dreams, but despite the setbacks they kept on striving forward until they won the grandest prize of them all.

COMBO BREAKER!
Alexandre "AK" Laverez' biggest hurdle en route to his dream of becoming a world Tekken champ, isn't just limited to challenging the legends of the scene, like Arslan "Arslan Ash" Siddique.
Countless visa issues have plagued him of a chance to represent the Philippines and prove that the country deserves to be at the spotlight in the world Tekken stage.
But in a sudden turn of events, AK was finally given the greenlight to proceed. All the way in Schaumburg, Illinois, AK became the champion of Combo Breaker 2024, his first Major Tekken trophy, giving the Philippines a glimmer of hope in the Tekken esports scene.

Elevating to greater heights
There have been numerous attempts for the Philippines to try their luck to become world champions in Call of Duty: Mobile, but it was in 2024 when the breakthrough finally happened, as Team Elevate secured the CODM World Championship.
Gone are the days when the players of the team would fall short in chasing their dreams of challenging the very best in the world stage as they simply commanded the entire tournament.
A 3-0 record in the Swiss stage, followed by a nearly flawless playoff run saw Elevate become the first Filipino squad and the first Garena-based team to win it all, an achievement that could open up the doors for aspiring CODM pros.

Five straight victories in M-series history
Bren, Blacklist International, ECHO PH, the Philippines has crafted a dynasty in the world of Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, however things were beginning to rattle as the other regions have slowly ascended.
Selangor Red Giants' victory proved that MPL Malaysia likewise had what it takes to challenge the status quo, but Fnatic ONIC Philippines kept on the legacy of PH dominance.
FNOP's road to M6 glory was simply...dominant. There was nothing that could stand in their way as even the mightiest teams from other regions were left to dust from their mastery of both the micro and macro levels of MLBB. With a 7-0 record, FNOP simply cruised to the championship.
But their run wasn't just defined by their flawless record as it also produced one of the best storylines in the scene, as the team assembled a band of nobodies to become the 'Super Family.'
