BOOM WAS COOKING as they eliminated defending champions Team Spirit.

Boom Esports continues their The International 2022 run as they shocked Team Spirit in the best-of-one elimination match.

Boom’s great team fighting and spell casting allowed them to take out the defending champs. Erin "Yopaj" Ferrer’s Mars landed great Arenas to disperse Spirits' heroes while Rolen "skem" Ong’s Disruptor ulti made sure that no saves were available for their opponents.

It was a close match from the start as Boom found pick-offs across the map, but Spirit maintained an almost 3k gold lead to stay in the game.

It would a 25th-minute team fight at the bottom lane that swung the gold lead to Boom as they took down three of Spirit’s heroes, including the carry Lifestealer and offlane Outworld Devourer. From there it would be Boom going all the way as they out-maneuvered and out-team fought Spirit.

Boom would be knocking on Spirit’s barracks by the 39th minute. There Spirit would try a last-ditch team fight, but the lead was too wide that they barely scratched Boom.

With the win, Boom moves on to the lower bracket where they face PSG.LGD in the best-of-three matchup tomorrow.

      Fnatic's TI run officially ends

Meanwhile, Fnatic ends their TI run after losing to a great Gaimin Gladiators comeback.

The SEA squad looked dominant for most of the game as their Sniper and Visage comp melted all of Gaimin Gladiators' outer turrets in just over 30 minutes, opening up the bottom lane in the 33rd.

The team had a massive 9k gold lead but suddenly found themselves losing three heroes after a great Storm Spirit aghs vortex in the 34th minute.

Another high-ground siege by minute 40 saw Gaimin team wipe Fnatic, after their Storm Spirit landed another well-placed vortex, catching four Fnatic heroes. This opened the map back for Gaiman who quickly took down two lanes of barracks.

From there Fnatic would struggle to stay afloat in the game, as Gaimin continued their onslaught. A team fight in the Radiant triangle caught both Armel "Armel" Tabios and Marc "Raven" Fausto out of place. They managed to force a buyback and quickly take the two out again, forcing the GG calls in just over 50 minutes.

With the loss, Fnatic bows out of TI at 13th to 16th place.

Also earlier in the day, Thunder Awaken shocked Abed and Evil Geniuses as they swept the North American squad. The loss meant EG will now fight for their tournament lives in the lower bracket.
