QUEZON continued its giant-killing ways after beating Pampanga, 94-77, on Saturday in the 2022 National Basketball League-Pilipinas (NBL) President’s Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.
Domenick Vera had 21 points and Topeng Lagrama had 17 points, seven rebounds, and eight assists to lift the Barons to another victory against an erstwhile unbeaten squad.
The Barons improved their record to 5-2, winning their second straight game after also dealing Taguig its first loss last week.
Pampanga slipped to 4-1, to drop to third place in the standings.
The Barons pulled away by outscoring the Delta, 22-12, in the second quarter for a 45-34 halftime lead. They took the lead as high as 20 points in the contest.
MJ Garcia had 24 points in a losing effort for the Delta.
Bulacan defeated Laguna, 96-92, to join Taguig in the team standings with a 5-1 win-loss slate.
John Cruz had 17 points, and Marlon Monte had 15 points for the Republicans, who bounced back from their first defeat of the season against Taguig three weeks ago.
