CHICAGO - Barring any turbulence, PBA slam dunk champion David Murrell is taking his high-flying act to Ginebra San Miguel.
A source told SPIN.ph that the Office of the Commissioner has issued a memo informing nine non-SMC teams of Ginebra's intent to pick up the 27-year old Fil-Am off waivers from sister team Magnolia.

Since he came from Magnolia, league rules do not allow Murrell to sign with Ginebra because both are "commonly-owned teams."
The "exercise notice" informed the other member teams that they have until 5 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, 2024 to inform the league of an intention to acquire Murrell to void the Ginebra transaction.
If none of them manifests the desire to pick up the athletic small forward, then he is free to go to the Gin Kings.
Last April 2023, Murrell was traded to Magnolia alongside Abu Tratter for Adrian Wong and the Hotshots' first-round pick in the 20223 PBA Rookie Draft.
The FiberXers used that 10th pick to draft former Ateneo guard BJ Andrade.

Murrell had been used sparingly at Magnolia.
The former UP Maroon played in just two games in the PBA Philippine Cup - or a grand total of 5.78 minutes - despite injuries that sidelined Hotshots mainstays Rome Dela Rosa and Aris Dionisio.
The Hotshots also acquired Jerrick Balanza in a trade with Converge in exchange for a Season 49 second-round draft pick, burying Murrell deeper in Chito Victolero's rotation.
At Ginebra he can get another chance under Tim Cone.
