THE strong just got stronger in the MPBL.
Riding the crest of a 15-0 start to the MPBL 2025 Season, the Nueva Ecija Rice Vanguards showed an unmatched commitment to winning by signing former PBA players Nick Demusis and JP Calvo.
The twin signings were announced by the Rice Vanguards on Tuesday, adding depth, muscle and experience to an already formidable team led by Rob Celiz, John Wilson, and twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino.

The Rice Vanguards signing leads to a homecoming of sorts for the 6-4 Demusis, who played for the Bacoor Strikers in 2019 before entering the PBA draft where he was picked 18th overall by Phoenix.
Demusis was sent to Rain or Shine in 2022 in the Javee Mocon trade and spent three seasons with the Elasto Painters until he was let go at the end of his contract last month.

On the other hand, Calvo, 27, was in and out of the Terrafirma lineup since 2019 until he was released by the Dyip last season. He last played for Paranaque in the MPBL.
