GOOD news and bad news.
Kai Sotto sat out the Koshigaya Alphas' return match against the Ibaraki Robots on Sunday, a day after limping out of their Japan B.League game with an apparent ankle injury.

But the good news is, the Alphas' 23-year old center dressed for the match and even joined the team in the pre-match introductions - a sign that the latest injury isn't serious.
The balllcub has yet to give an update on Sotto's injury, but listed him as a DNP in the official lineup.
That should be a big relief both for the Alphas and Gilas Pilipinas.
The 7-foot-3 Sotto was coming off a torn ACL injury suffered on January 5, 2025 that required surgery and sidelined him for over a year.
Gilas is also keenly awaiting any injury update from the Alphas since the national team has upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Australia and New Zealand in late February.

The nationals sorely missed their starting center in the last Fiba Asia Cup, where they ended up in seventh place after losing to the Boomers in the quarterfinals.
Sotto's B.League season debut at Hitachi City Ikenokawa Sakura Arena saw him go scoreless in 10 minutes of play, missing both of his field goal attempts although he rejected three shots, had two assists, and one rebound before the injury.
