JERRY Yee's temporary suspension from coaching duties with University of the East came as a surprise to the UAAP community amid a lack of clarity on the exact reason behind the sanction — one that the league is expected to disclose after the appeals process.

But in separate statements issued in succession by Yee and the UAAP on Sunday morning, there were specific mentions of events and possible precursors dating back to 2022 which may have led to the UE mentor's three-month ban.
Let's look back:
JULY 2022: Adamson signs Benilde head coach Yee
In Yee's response to the UAAP ruling, he disclosed how the Adamson Lady Falcons made an approach to hire him as head coach while he was already at the helm for College of St. Benilde in the NCAA (term began July 22, 2018).
And amid his one-season Adamson coaching stint, "an opportunity presented itself" when a Premier Volleyball League (PVL) side, which was only being formed with a Benildean core of players at the time, reached out to him — subsequently emerging as the Farm Fresh Foxies where Yee concurrently serves as head coach.
MARCH 2023: Adamson, Akari hold talks with Yee on coaching setup
Back in March of last year when Yee was still Lady Falcons coach, he revealed that Adamson and its main sponsor Akari met with him to explain that "[Akari] wasn't happy and that it will be hard to continue with our arrangements."
Moreover, Yee shared how he offered to keep his coaching post "for another season without the additional compensation from the sponsor."
Adamson and Akari made it clear to Yee that such a setup won't be possible.
JUNE 2023: Yee 'mutually parts ways' with Adamson
Three months later come the first week of June, Yee cited how another meeting with Adamson and Akari took place — but this time, "to discuss a mutual termination of agreement."
And on June 7, Adamson released a 'statement of release' to announce Yee's departure from the Lady Falcons.
Exactly two weeks since Adamson announced Yee's exit, he confirmed accepting a 'head coaching offer' from the University of the East, concurrent to his NCAA and PVL coaching stints.
FEBRUARY 2024: UAAP boards deliberate Yee complaint from unnamed member school
Few weeks into the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament, and by the time in which UE holds a 1-2 (win-loss) card, an unnamed UAAP member school lodged a complaint on Yee.
And as per the league's statement, the complaint came about on grounds of "conduct violative to the purposes of the UAAP - a platform for Member Universities to foster camaraderie and fair play."
By February 29 following a 'thorough deliberation' by the UAAP Board of Managing Directors (BMD), the Board of Trustees ruled that their body was in agreement with the BMD that Yee "engaged in acts inconsistent with the league's objectives."
MARCH 2024: UAAP suspends Yee for three months
UE received the league ruling through university president Dr. Zosimo Battad and UAAP Season 86 president Rod Roque prior to informing Yee on March 1 (Friday afternoon),
Two days later, Yee and the UAAP gave their respective accounts relative to the league ruling, with the former expressing its intent to file an appeal one day after his sanction took effect.
And in response, the UAAP shared its forthcoming plan upon Yee's declaration to appeal his three-month ban.
"An intent to file an appeal having been expressed, we deem it best to address matters in the proper forum, in fairness to all concerned."
