AS coach of champion teams National University and Creamline, Sherwin Meneses isn't too familiar with losing.
But in the last week alone, Meneses saw NU lose for the first time in UAAP Season 87 against University of the Philippines, 24-26, 25-23, 25-17, 23-25, 12-15 and Creamline stunned 23-25, 22-25, 25-21, 16-25 by Petro Gazz in the PVL All-Filipino Conference semifinals.

While losing remains a tough pill to swallow, Meneses is taking such setbacks in stride. In his view, if some pretty good teams can take losses with their heads held high, then so should he, the Lady Bulldogs and the Cool Smashers.
“Siyempre, hindi rin ganun kadali pero sabi ko nga, kung yung mga good teams nga, kapag natatalo, nagba-bounce back talaga yan,” said Meneses.

For the soft-spoken coach, it's not about losing but learning and bouncing back after every loss.
“Hopefully, maka-bounce back din ako sa kabila (with Creamline). Yung NU naman, talagang good thing yan.”
Whenever results don’t go the way of Meneses' teams, the grand slam-winning coach makes it a point to take a long, hard look at what went wrong and be sure to make things right on the taraflex.
“Malaman lang namin lagi kung saan kami nagkakamali talaga sa mga last games namin, yun ang pinaka-importante,” Meneses said. “About sa mga naging games ko, marami pa naman yan so ready lang din ako palagi."
