DAYS after allegations of violating the Inter-Agency Task Force’s (IATF) quarantine protocols surfaced, the National University Lady Bulldogs said they would release a statement on Monday, but ended up remaining tight-lipped regarding the issue.
The women’s volleyball team currently faces accusations of conducting illegal training sessions while on a nationwide community quarantine as social media posts suggest that some members are working out together in a school property.
When SPIN.ph sought for answers from the NU Lady Bulldog’s assistant coach Regine Diego on Sunday, she replied that the school will issue a statement today (Monday), but this afternoon, she again sent a text message adding: “Only if necessary” – the same message head coach Norman Miguel told SPIN.ph on Monday.

NU management has yet to release a statement at the time of writing this report, but Games and Amusements Board chairman Baham Mitra said on Monday that IATF would be tackling the matter on Wednesday.
A reliable source from the institution also told SPIN.ph that the players who stayed inside the campus dorm as recent as August 9, are the ones who weren’t able to make it home before lawmakers put the country in a lockdown.
“Lahat naman ng players naka-dorm sa NU, ‘yun ‘yung mga hindi nakauwi,” the source said.
Since the start of the lockdown in March, classes remained cancelled as IATF prohibits students from entering school premises as well as “conduction of curricular and co-curricular activities involving gatherings such as science fairs, showcase of portfolios, trade fairs, school sports, campus journalism, festival of talents, job fairs, and other similar activities, except those conducted online,” as stated in the section 4 of the IATF Guidelines for areas under GCQ.
