UNIVERSITY of the East received a massive boost in its women’s volleyball program upon securing the commitments of four champion stars from the 2023 Shakey’s Girls Volleyball Invitational League title-winning side California Academy and Lucena City's ace utility winger.

Under the tutelage of newly signed veteran mentor Jerry Yee, rising aces Casiey Dongallo, Jelaica Gajero, Grace Fernandez, Kizzie Madriaga, and Maryhill College's Claire Castillo will usher the dawn of a new era for the UE Lady Red Warriors beginning Season 86.
Sporting partner Strong Group Athletics (SGA) confirmed UE’s five key signings on Wednesday.
“As the newest additions to the Lady Warriors, they will team up with UE head coach Jerry Yee in their new home under SGA,” the group announced.
“They will also be joined by their high school coach, Dr. Obet Vital, who will serve as an assistant coach for the Recto squad.”
Earlier this year, the California Academy crew led by tournament’s best setter Madriaga incoming Lady Red Warriors ruled the 2023 Philippine National Volleyball Federation under-18 girls’ tilt.
She also copped the same plum in their Shakey’s Invitationals romp alongside Dongallo (MVP), Gajero (best outside spiker), and Fernandez (best libero).
Led by the esteemed Lao family, SGA has also partnered with PBA side Converge, PVL newcomer Farm Fresh, Benilde’s men's basketball and women's volleyball squads, and Letran’s boys’ basketball program.
And after a long winless spell in the college ranks, UE looks to spark a renaissance run in the women’s volleyball program to build a competitive and formidable winning culture.
UE finished Season 85 at rock bottom of the team standings with a 1-11 (win-loss) slate.
