IT was always PLDT or bust for Savi Davison.

The PVL’s single-conference scoring record holder said there was no doubt in her mind that the High Speed Hitters have what it takes to be PVL champions from the time she joined the team in the 2023 Second All-Filipino Conference.

The Fil-Canadian's unwavering faith in her team paid off on Sunday night when the High Speed Hitters turned back a Chery Tiggo comeback, 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 24-26, 15-8, to lift the PVL on Tour trophy at the MOA Arena.

Davison led four PLDT players in double figures with 23 points and nine receptions as the team ended a seven-year drought that extended to the High Speed Hitters' time in the defunct Philippine Super Liga.

But for Davison, PLDT winning a title wasn't a matter of if but when.

"I've been saying this. I've been saying from every angle that we're a threat. And people keep telling me, Savi ... , 'I'm telling you, in practice, in games, I cannot believe the girls that show up,'” Davison said.

“I’ve said this before, but I think we have some of the best athletes in our gym and I'm just so glad to be a part of it. They make me better every day and I just hope that I can do the same."

Her fellow Fil-foreign aces Brooke Van Sickle and MJ Phillips won a PVL titles just four months ago with Petro Gazz. Davison said not once did she feel envious that her moment came later despite arriving in the Philippines before Van Sickle.

“PLDT was here way before I got here. I'm just glad to be in the position where I can contribute. I wasn't added to the team to turn some switch,” said Davison. “People ask me all the time, 'Why PLDT?' but I can't say anything else.

"I'm so glad and it's either PLDT or nothing for me. I'm just glad to find a family here. I'm glad to call these people my support and receive love and give love to them. I'm just glad I was with this group.

“I mean, I couldn't imagine this with any other group, any other teammates, coaches, supporting staff. I'm just happy to be a part of it."
