PETRO Gazz, seeking redemption after placing sixth in the PVL Invitational, has signed American Lindsey Vander Weide as its import for the Reinforced Conference.
The team welcomed the 6-foot-3 outside hitter on Thursday.
The 24-year-old from California has played in France for Volley-Ball Nantes, Hungary for five-time champions Békéscsabai Röplabda SE, and Greece for AEK Athens.
In her collegiate career, Vander Weide powered the University of Oregons to the Elite 8 of the NCAA Tournament in 2018, finishing in the top 10 ranks of almost every skill department — fourth best scorer, fifth best attacker, sixth best digger and ninth best server.
Vander Weide is expected to boost the Angels bannered by Myla Pablo, Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, and MJ Philips who wound up sixth the eight-team PVL Invitational Conference after a runner-up finish in the Open Conference early this year.
The Reinforced Conference is set to kick off on Oct. 8.
