THE shakeup continues at Creamline as it parted ways with reserve setter Mafe Galanza.

The Cool Smashers announced their fourth player departure of the offseason on Monday, continuing what has been an unusually active period of roster shakeups for the PVL’s most decorated franchise.

“Mafe, from the court to the sidelines, you gave this team strength, care, and presence through every moment. Your heart and good vibes will always stay with the Creamline family,” the team wrote in its farewell post.

The younger sister of former PVL MVP and Creamline mainstay Jema Galanza, Mafe saw limited action during her more than two-year stint with the 10-time champions.

She was first signed by the Cool Smashers in 2023 alongside now-Akari setter Bea Bonafe, with both brought in to provide depth at the playmaking position.

At the time, the pair was tasked to backstop Kyle Negrito during the absence of longtime setter Jia de Guzman, who was set for her first overseas stint at the time with Japan V.League side Denso Airybees.

However, opportunities proved scarce as Galanza rarely saw extended minutes across multiple conferences.

Bonafe eventually left Creamline for Akari midway through 2025, and Galanza now follows her former teammate out the door roughly half a year later.

The latest move underscores the scale of changes underway at Creamline, which is navigating unfamiliar territory after enduring its first title-less calendar year since its debut in 2017, aside from the single-conference run during the pandemic-hit 2021 season.

As of writing, veterans Pau Soriano, Rizza Mandapat and Mich Morente have also exited the Cool Smashers.

With more roster adjustments expected, Creamline appears poised to usher in a new-look lineup as it seeks to reclaim its championship form in the 2026 PVL season.
