LA Salle coach Ramil de Jesus still expects the elimination-round match against Ateneo to be a slam-bang affair, even if the Lady Archers and Lady Eagles have secured twice-to-beat advantages.
La Salle’s remaining matches are already no-bearing, but De Jesus said he does not plan to rest players especially in Lady Spikers’ rematch against Ateneo on April 10 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Only the final rankings, 1 or 2, are left to be determined for Ateneo and La Salle while other schools battle it out for the next two spots in the semifinals.
“Pahinga, wala sa bokabularyo ko ’yun,” De Jesus said. “Kahit sinong team siguro ‘yan. Siguro, recovery na lang.”
La Salle won their first round encounter in straight sets, to snap Ateneo’s 24-match winning run.
De Jesus said he the match will still be tight, even though both squads have clinched twice-to-beat advantages in the semis.
“Hindi naman kasi puwede na totally lalaruin lang ‘yung game. Hindi ganun eh. Alam naman natin na Ateneo-La Salle. Sabihin na natin na walang bearing ‘yan pero kita mo naman ‘yung mga bata. Kasi pride kasi eh,” said De Jesus.
De Jesus, however, is also relieved the two matches including that against National University in the final elimination round on April 13 no longer puts any pressure on them.
“Sa side ng mga players, considered na rin as tune-up game para sa Final Four kesa papasok ka na pressured na laro,” said De Jesus.
