LA Salle gained a twice-to-beat advantage in the semifinals, handily beating winless University of the East, 25-16, 25-17, 25-11, on Saturday in the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament at the MOA Arena.
Kim Dy scored 14 points and Ara Galang added 12 as the Lady Spikers scored their 10th win in 12 outings, extending the lead over third-running University of the Philippines and Far Eastern University.
Ateneo also gained a twice-to-beat advantage in the Final Four, keeping a share of the lead with La Salle after a straight-sets win over lowly Adamson.
The Lady Spikers will face Ateneo and National U to end the elimination round.
"No bearing na lang kasi 'yung mga games. 'Yun lang yung Nos. 1 and 2 wala na aabot placing na lang,” said La Salle coach Ramil de Jesus.
“Less pressure kasi hindi na kailangan manalo,” he added.
The Lady Spikers had 32 attack points, while the Lady Warriors only had 10.
Shaya Adorador had seven points for UE, which remained winless in 57 games dating to Season 74.
