BRYAN Bagunas’ absence left an undermanned Alas Pilipinas side reeling against Indonesia, 24-26, 11-25, 15-25, at the start of Leg 2 of the 2024 SEA V.League on Friday in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

Unlike in the opening leg in Manila, the Philippines failed to win a single set even after stepping on the gas early in the opening frame.

Newly-added spiker Jau Umandal and Bagunas’ first-leg substitute spiker Noel Kampton gave it their best shot to start Alas Pilipinas’ back-to-back medal bid on a high.

But in the end, the nationals just couldn’t overcome Indonesian star Fahry Septian Putratama’s power hits and Leg 1 best middle blocker Hendra Kurniawan’s rock-solid net defense.
