INJURIES are, more often than not, publicly disclosed when it comes to professional leagues and international tournaments.

In more ways than one, health updates are of utmost importance to keep fans and followers of athletes, teams and competitions informed.
For Alas Pilipinas Men head coach Angiolino Frigoni, this doesn’t seem to be the case.
What members of the media on-ground would rule to be a basic injury-related inquiry on no less than team captain and star spiker Bryan Bagunas got a stinging rebuke from the 70-year-old Italian mentor.
“No.”

He’d go on to explain how Bagunas’ injury, or any health-related concern for that matter, should not be for public consumption.
“In any case, injuries are private questions. I cannot say anything. Nobody can tell you in the newspapers, journalists, or others about private questions like health, you know?
“I don’t know anything. And by the way, we don’t know anything.”
Bagunas suffered an apparent left knee injury in Alas’ penultimate match in the first leg of the 2024 SEA V.League against Indonesia, which it eventually lost in four sets.
It was the final play of the third set which saw Bagunas’ jump serve end with an awkward fall, forcing the Alas captain to be stretchered off the court. He sat out their home leg finale defeat to Thailand.
An update on Bagunas, anyway
Frigoni might’ve refused to say a word or two on Bagunas’ status, but here’s one in any case.

As per multiple sources, Bagunas has already undergone an MRI on his left knee to assess whether he has incurred significant damage following the incident on Saturday.
The Alas captain was not present at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium but would still get his hands on the team trophy and bronze medal, as shared by Volleyball Philippines on social media.
Bagunas and the rest of the team continue to wait for the MRI results to confirm the extents and full nature of his injury.
