MARIE June Adriano snatched the Philippines' second karate bronze medal on the final day of the competitions in the combat sport at the 20th Asian Games at the Toyohashi Gymnasium.
Adriano dominated Chung Ya-chi of Chinese Taipei, 10-3, in her final women’s kumite -50kg match to add to the bronze won by the women’s kata team of Samantha Emmanuel Veguillas, Ysabielle Arrogante, and Rebecca Cyril Torres.

The 22-year-old Adriano was a bronze medalist in the same weight category at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games in Bangkok.
She nipped Srey Phea Chonn of Cambodia, 4-3, in the round of 16, and later blanked Yewon Yang of Korea, 4-0.
Adriano came very close to advancing to the gold medal bout in a 4-3 loss to Tsang Yee Ting of Hong Kong, but made sure to contribute to karate’s medal haul with the win over the Taiwanese foe.
