SAMANTHA Emmanuelle Veguillas, Ysabielle Arrogante, and Rebecca Cyril Torres won a bronze medal in the women’s team kata event of karate in the 20th Asian Games at the Toyohashi Gymnasium.
The trio beat Thailand, 4-1, in the bronze medal match, giving the Philippines its third medal in this Asiad.

Veguillas, Arrogante, and Torres defeated Cambodia in the quarterfinals, but were relegated to the bronze medal bout after a 5-0 loss to Iran.
The bronze added to the joy of the karate delegation after receiving news that the country will return to the Karate World Cup this November in Hangzhou, China after competing in the last edition in 2024 in Pamplona, Spain.
