Obiena recently won a first ever silver medal for the country in the World Athletics Championship and a gold in the Asian Athletics Championship.
Didal on the other hand, was one of the four gold medalists for the country during the last Asiad in Palembang, Indonesia in 2018.
Both Obiena and Didal were not around during the event held at the PICC and also attended by Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) chairman Richard Bachmann, Philippine Paralympic Committee president Mike Barredo, and Senator Bong Go.
The announcement came just hours after the Filipino pole vaulter bagged a silver medal in the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, a Diamond League event which world no. 1 Mondo Duplantis ruled by setting a new world record of 6.23 meters.
