COSTA RICA’s Mariano 'The Hitman' Jones retired veteran Caloy Baduria by beating him in just 42 seconds via submission on Tuesday in the Universal Reality Combat Championship (URCC) 86 at the Palace in Xylo BGC in Taguig.
Jones, who turns 27 on Friday, went to work right away, taking down the 43-year-old veteran before finishing the fight with a keylock submission right in the opening round.

“I wish Caloy the best in retirement and I like the guy, but they call me the Hitman for a reason. I have no emotion in the cage. Feels good, very thankful for the opportunity given to me by URCC and I hope to get a title shot for my next fight,” said Jones, who improved to 3-0 win-loss slate.
Baduria was the second straight fighter he retired after Arvin Chan in URCC 84 last April also via submission.
In grappling matches, Gregorio Abalos beat Gabriel del Rosario in the open weight category, and Joaquin Dy whipped Neil Larano via submission in the first round of their welterweight clash.
Alex Bigander defeated Guiller Lopez via arm triangle choke in the first round of their pro-am middleweight bout, while Marwin Quirante beat Mcleary Onido via unanimous decision in their flyweight battle.
Mark Gatmaitan scored a technical knockout in the first round over Tristan De Mena during their light heavyweight MMA clash even as Edemel Catalan won over Bryl Osaraga by rear naked choke in the first round of their strawweight clash.
In bareknuckle bouts, Juanito Mabanan crushed Rolando Plaza via unanimous decision in their strawweight clash, and Aries Lasar clobbered Bonifacio Caangay in a bantamweight bout via unanimous decision.
URCC president Alvin Aguilar and co-owner vice-president/general manager Aleks Sofronov praised all the fighters and grapplers who saw action in the promotion’s 86th fight edition sponsored by online casino Atlantis. The fight card was also supported by Angkas, and Lucas Lepri BJJ.
