THE PBA Moto Club has broken its silence on its links to Gerrard Raymund Uy, who was tagged as a suspect in Tuesday's EDSA-Ayala tunnel road rage shooting incident.
In an official statement, the group spearheaded by former PBA player Rico Maierhofer and one-time league MVP Jayjay Helterbrand acknowledged its association with Uy, who was arrested a day after the shooting incident.
Uy tagged as suspect
Uy, a businessman from Pasig City, was tagged by police as the suspect on board a Mercedes Benz car who shot the driver of a Toyota Innova after a traffic altercation along the southbound lane of the EDSA-Ayala tunnel.
Aniceto Mateo, a 65-year old stay-in driver, died on the spot. His passengers, a 47-year old women and a minor, escaped unharmed.
As news of Uy's arrest spread on Wednesday, netizens started sharing on social media and Reddit photos and videos of the suspect in the company of PBA Moto Club members, including Maierhofer and Helterbrand.
The PBA Moto Club is a group of PBA players both active and retired as well as their friends who found a common bond in their love for big bikes and long rides.
The group's social media pages have gained a big following. The players have hosted a podcast and also play in charity games, both locally and overseas.

A post on Reddit claimed Yu is a founding member of the PBA Moto Club, which is unverified.
The group condoled with the family of the victim and stressed it doesn't condone any 'form of violence and senseless act' and expressed hope that justice will be served to the bereaved family.
