CALVIN Abueva will wear jersey No. 12 when he suits up for Magnolia in the PBA starting the coming 2021 season.
Abueva revealed his jersey number in a live video on his new Instagram account on Wednesday, the same day he attended his second practice with the Hotshots.
Abueva didn’t explain the reason behind his decision to wear No. 12 instead of his regular Nos. 8 and 7 jerseys, which are no longer available at Magnolia.

The No. 8, which was worn by former star guard PJ Simon, is set to be retired by the fabled ballclub while the No. 7 jersey was retired in honor of Rey Evangelista.
Abueva also once wore No. 88 while he was playing for Alaska.
Incidentally, the PBA career of Abueva started when he was drafted second overall by Alaska in 2012 after playing for San Sebastian in college. He recently turned 33 on February 4.
Abueva was recently involved in a blockbuster deal in which his former team Phoenix shipped him to Magnolia in exchange of Chris Banchero. Draft picks were also involved in the deal.
The deal ushered in a new beginning for Abueva, who is expected to make Magnolia a serious title contender for the 2021 season.
