PHOENIX Pulse opened the new season of the PBA with new basketball jerseys that turned heads on Wednesday during the Fuel Masters’ match against Meralco.
The Fuel Masters played Wednesday’s game against the Bolts wearing their new black jerseys in their fourth season in the PBA.
Phoenix Pulse christened its new uniforms with a thrilling 93-92 overtime win over Meralco on Wednesday night for an auspicious debut for the team in the season opener.
The jersey also drew positive feedback from fans, which Phoenix Pulse team manager Paolo Bugia said the players also share.
“Even before lumabas yung sa initial layout pa lang, marami na nagsasabi na maganda siya,” Bugia told SPIN.ph on Wednesday. “The players were very excited.”
Bugia said the new uniforms came following the launch of the team’s new name from Phoenix to Phoenix Pulse, the brand’s premium fuel.
“It was just to launch our new name Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters. Integrated sa product namin yung Phoenix Pulse Technology,” Bugia said.
Bugia explained the concept of the jersey, particularly the fuel-like design prominently located at the bottom of the jersey and on top of the shorts.
“From the product itself na fuel additive, gusto niya ipalabas na nagpapalakas siya sa fuel. If you look closely, parang fuel na gumagalaw sa katawan namin,” said Bugia.
Bugia paid tribute to the company’s marketing department for coming up with the concept as he hopes that the good vibes in the new jerseys will also translate to success on the court.
“Ang gusto namin, not the usual structured uniform. Gusto namin gumagalaw siya, fluid siya, may action siya na parang fuel. Credit to our marketing department. Sila nag-design nun. We are very happy with the reception and we hope that if we look good, we play good,” said Bugia.
