IT sure seemed like a case of "new uniform, fiercer mentality" for the Creamline Cool Smashers, if you ask captain Alyssa Valdez.
On Sunday, Creamline paraded their newest jerseys — a long-sleeved version of their dark uniform — against BanKo in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference at The Arena in San Juan, looking all-business from the start.
This fresh set of threads, added Valdez, made her feel more in the zone.
“Wearing a different kind of jersey feels like we’re really into the game,” said Valdez as Creamline recovered from a bad start to deny BanKo in four sets, 23-25, 25-12, 25-17, 25-23.
The former UAAP MVP out of Ateneo, who had 19 points in the game, further explained that the long sleeves did not hinder the way they moved on the court and, instead, made them look ready for battle.
“[We looked] really prepared and excited playing kasi parang ‘Ah, iba ang look namin today’ so game-day talaga [ang feeling],” said Valdez, who built her offense on 15 kills, three blocks, and one service ace."
She added: “‘Yung mindset namin nag-iba talaga kasi syempre we’re used to wearing ‘yung sando, pero kapag ito our minds talaga were into the game.”
Valdez, though, stressed that they will still use their other set of jersey for their other games.
After a straight-set loss to Petro Gazz in the conference-opener, Creamline is on a roll, pocketing back-to-back wins to take the No. 2 spot, tied with Pacific Town Army.
Unbeaten Petro Gazz (3-0) is at No. 1.
