CARLOS Yulo is slated to compete in the Asian Championships following his successful campaign in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games in Cambodia.

The Asian Championships is actually Yulo’s first step in his bid to qualify for the Olympics.
The top eight gymnasts in the men’s individual all-around will clinch a berth in the worlds to be held in Antwerp. The worlds is the first of a series of qualification tournaments for individuals in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
“Para makapasok sa Olympics, kailangan ko mag-qualify sa world championships this year sa all-around,” said Yulo in an online press conference organized by the Gymnastics Association of the Philippines and KG Management Inc.

Yulo is coming off an impressive showing in the SEA Games where he captured two gold medals in the all-around and parallel bars and two silver medals in the team all-around and rings.
Fellow SEA Games gold medalists Juancho Miguel Besana and John Ivan Cruz will also be bound for the Asian Championships after their performance in Phnom Penh.
Besana claimed the gold in the vault, while Cruz captured the title in the floor exercise, the pet event of Yulo that he ruled in the past two SEA Games prior to Cambodia.
Gymnastics Association of the Philippines president Cynthia Carrion said it will also field a women’s artistic gymnastics team in the Asian Championships.
