Bella Flanigan and the Philippine team are off to a tough start.

THE Philippines opened its 2022 AFF Under-18 Women’s Championship campaign with a 4-0 defeat against Australia on Monday in Palembang, Indonesia.

The Pinay booters were only trailing 1-0 at the break but that lead swelled in the second half.

The Young Filipinas conceded goals from Avaani Prakash in the 26th and 60th minute, with India Jessie Luise Beier (58th) and Maya Lobo (69th) adding to the Matildas U-18 tally.

The Philippines is at the bottom of the board in Group B after giving up four goals. Australia is in first place with Myanmar second with three points following a 2-0 victory over Malaysia, which is in third.

Two members of the team in Bella Flanigan and Chantelle Mantini were fresh from their stint with the Filipinas senior team that captured the title in the AFF Women’s Championship in Manila last week.
