THE Philippine football team got a warm welcome upon their return to Manila on Wednesday following their historic run at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.

Thirteen of the 23 members of the World Cup team arrived on a flight from Sydney at NAIA Terminal 1, where they were welcomed bu grateful supporters.
The Filipinas exited the World Cup in the group stage after falling to Norway, 6-0, in their last match on Sunday.


Still, the Filipinas were able to score their first goal and get their first win when they stunned co-hosts New Zealand, 1-0, last week.
The 13 members who arrived Wednesday were Jaclyn Sawicki, Sara Eggesvik, Meryll Serrano, Katrina Guillou, Olivia McDaniel, Chandler McDaniel, Jessika Cowart, Sofia Harrison, Alicia Barker, Ryley Bugay, Kaiya Jota, Quinley Quezada, and Isabella Pasion.
“Feels really good. It was really a warm welcome and I’m glad people appreciate what we have done. And I’m glad we can come back here and celebrate.” said Eggesvik.
