AUCKLAND, New Zealand – Alen Stajcic declined to speak about his future with the Filipinas, shortly after the team bowed out of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup on Sunday.
The Australian coach led the Filipinas to new heights in the FIFA Women’s World Cup, where they captured a win in their first-ever appearance in football’s biggest showcase.
However, the Filipinas management will have to make decisions in relation to the coaching staff after the improbable campaign.

Stajcic’s current contract with the Filipinas is set to expire as the March 2022 extension that he signed runs only until the end of the World Cup.
There was also a report earlier this month emanating from Australia that Stajcic is in the frame for the head coaching job at Perth Glory men’s team in the A-League.
The Filipinas will still have a busy 2023 after the World Cup as they are scheduled to compete in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China from September 25 to October 6, and the 2024 AFC Olympic Qualifying Tournament where the second round will start late in October.
“It’s a bit early for all those questions,” said Stajcic, when asked if he will stay on to coach the Filipinas in the Asian Games. “Just lost the game and bowed out of the World Cup with all that hope, that little bit of hope of causing another upset like we did the other night."
Stajcic said he will let the World Cup campaign of the Filipinas sink in before making any decisions.

“We’ll reflect on that for now, the coming days, we have to start making plans for the future,” said Stajcic.
