SMART OMEGA'S road to #CODMChamps22 and back atop the Philippines’ CODM scene just got an interesting turn.

In a recent post in their Facebook page, the team announced it has acquired Ronan Arkie “Rage” Eleria to join their squad.

Rage, an important cog of Tyrant Esports’ championship-winning roster in the recently concluded Garena Youth Challengers, will join the title-seeking Smart Omega team aiming to bounce back from previous tournament losses.

The move was made in anticipation for Smart Omega’s CODM World Championship 2022 roster following the ineligibility of one of their players, Kevin “Kevs” Baguio, due to age restrictions.

How Rage's entrance affects the dynamic of Omega Esports

“Our coaches [in Smart Omega] scouted about 20 possible candidates with potential to fill the role until they narrowed it down to just the top three, and one of them was Rage. Unfortunately, I can’t disclose who were the top three players but, in the end, Rage was the one passed the eye test of our coaches after a good performance,” team manager Khristianne Gray Ofalsa shared.

Moreover, Smart Omega coach Bruce “Dev1ce” Cruz likes what he sees from Rage and what he can bring to the table for the team.

“He brings a different vibe to the team. He is young and hungry which I really liked about him and he is coachable and dependable. He makes a significant impact to the team. The team sees a great teammate in him.”

Rage’s addition officially ends Smart Omega’s two-year run of their original roster as this will be their first world championship journey without Benjamin “CRUSH” Trinidad, who left the team a month ago. CRUSH along with Smart Omega teammates JC “Jayzee” Rivera, Kennedy “iDra” Mondoy, Jerrold “Wooppiie” Regay and John Kenneth “KenDy” Pimentel remarkably brought glory to the country as the first-ever CODM regional champions in 2020, while finishing in the 5th-8th spots in last year’s champs.
