R8 ESPORTS had one of the best runs in MPL MENA Season 5 as the team topped the regular season standings with 24 points, only for things to start crashing down during the playoffs.
They ended up finishing 4th, a disappointing finish to a team that had a lot of momentum from the beginning.
Eventually the holes were slowly beginning to open as the team published a public statement which hinted their demise during the playoffs.
Coach Steven "Dale" Vitug, a Filipino MLBB coach, who holds a lot of experience since his Finesse Solid days and the surprise run that Falcon Esports had during the M4 World Championship is now under fire.
"During playoffs, despite the players were hardworking as well as staff we have come to regret to inform our fans and supporters that Coach Dale did not uphold the same level of commitment during the playoffs," said the statement.
They added: "Coach Dale came to the playoffs unprepared despite a lot of promises."
R8 Esports takes legal action
As to the reason for his lackluster preparations? Here's what the org discovered.
"It came to our attention by coincidence that Coach Dale was simultaneously announced as a coach for another team. This indicates that he was dividing his efforts and time, coaching another team while still under contract with us."
Sources revealed that Coach Dale was supposed to end up with Mongolian esports team, IHC Esports. Given that agreement between Coach Dale and R8 Esports, MOONTON barred his involvement with IHC.
"Due to these actions, "MOONTON" has decided to remove Coach Dale from the other team, and we "R8 Esports" will take legal actions against him."
