More than a 6th Man: SpiderMilez, a major heartbeat in ONIC PH's success

ONIC PHILIPPINES officially announced the departure of Brian 'SpiderMilez' Santos, sharing the news on their social media platforms on Monday evening.

“SpiderMilez, we'd like to thank you for being an invaluable part of the Super Family. Your dedication never went unnoticed. As you take on your next journey, we wish you nothing but success,” ONIC Philippines wrote.

ONIC Philippines (formerly Fnatic ONIC Philippines) won the M6 World Championship after defeating Team Liquid Indonesia last December, pulling off a legendary stint to continue the five consecutive championship streak of the Philippines since M2 in 2020.

Behind their success, a reliable man has been their refuge in every step of the way of building their legacy on the world stage: SpiderMilez.

A true support player

As the sixth man, SpiderMilez has provided help to ONIC Philippines in numerous ways that many do not recognize. With his unwavering commitment to the grind, brilliant mind, and maturity, SpiderMilez embodied his support role even outside the game.

“He would watch yung mga scrims namin, actually all the time naman. Meron siyang mga remarks minsan, kadalasan kay Brusko. Kunyari nag-Mathilda si Brusko o kaya nag-Floryn si Brusko, doon medyo mas nag-vo-voice out si Milez,” head coach Tony “YnoT” Senedrin said in an exclusive interview with SPIN.ph.

“Magaling kasi si Milez sa mga timer ng skill, sa cooldown ng mga spells. Tinuturuan niya kami. Kunyari may mga scrims, sasabihin niya, “Ganito yung cooldown ng hero na ‘to ah.” Kapag gumagamit ako ng utility hero, nag-a-ask ako sa kaniya. Bibigyan niya ako ng tips,” Borris “Brusko” Parro described, working side by side with SpiderMilez to improve his in-game skills.

SpiderMilez’s tireless work ethic and dedication also inspired the Super Family to give their all and strive for greatness.

“I think yung gigil ni Milez pagdating sa mga ranked games, yung gigil niya sa pag-grind, isa yun sa mga nakikita ng mga players. Kung si Miles nagbabatak, parang kailangan din natin magbatak,” coach YnoT said.

What lies ahead for the Webmaster remains uncertain for now. However, given his previous impact with ONIC PH, expect teams to be interested in his services.
