DAYS AFTER BURN X FLASH ended their campaign in the M4 World Championship, both Coach John Michael "Zico" Dizon and Jhonwin "Hesa" Vergara announced their departure from the team.

Both publicly posted a long message on their respective Facebook pages.

For Zico, leaving the Philippines was a challenging, yet rewarding experience.

"Leaving my homeland was the biggest leap of faith that I have made 7 months ago. Pursuing my passion for Esports in a foreign land was a challenging yet fulfilling experience, and I can confidently say that it was one of the best decisions that I’ve made in my coaching career; I have one MPL Championship title under my belt.

"Thank you, BURN X FLASH for seeing the fire in me, for putting your trust in me and making me one of your own. Thank you to the Cambodian community, our Flamers, for welcoming and supporting me from day one up to the last. My stay in Cambodia may be short and sweet, but it was definitely one for the books.

"The journey to professional and personal growth never ends… and so, on to the next."

Hesa also leaves, along with Zico

Hesa, who was also with Coach Zico during his last MPL-PH gig with Nexplay EVOS, also reflected on his journey.

"Moving from MPL PH to MPL KH has been such an amazing opportunity and a wild journey," he said, thanking supporters for his one-season stint.

"I decided to take a break but don't worry, my journey doesn't end here. I will come back stronger, BURN Hesa signing off."

Eventually Burn X Flash made their 'goodbyes' official with their latest post.

"It was hard to say “goodbye” but we respect both decisions.

"Thank you both for the time spent together, getting resources together, as a part of making other countries know us and Cambodia more. Although this departure saddens us and our Flamers, we will always support you both no matter where."

As Coach Zico and Hesa leave Burn X Flash, other Filipino players will be taking their talents to the Cambodian MLBB scene.

What Hesa and Zico accomplished with Burn X Flash

Both Hesa and Zico made significant strides with Burn X Flash. If before The Flamers were overlooked in the Cambodian scene, given the impact of See You Soon and Impunity KH, the arrival of the two Filipino imports have boosted Burn's reputations.

Ascending from the ashes, Burn X Flash made headlines for winning the MPL Cambodia Autumn 2022. This marks the first time that the team garnered their MPL trophy and most importantly their world stage berth.

While there is a lot of promise with the Flamers given their dark horse status in the M4 World Championship, the world stage proved to be a tragedy for the Cambodian squad. Without Zico at the group stages, the team was leaderless and in the end they suffered a winless 0-3 record.

To add to their misery, Burn X Flash was eliminated in the opening playoff rounds as they got swept by North America's The Valley. In the end, Burn X Flash ended their M4 run without any wins.

Yet despite the disappointments, Coach Zico learned a lot from his experience.
