COACH FRANCIS "DUCKY" Glindro remains to be one of the most successful coaches in the Mobile Legends professional scene, especially given the numerous world championship trophies and gold medals he attained throughout his career.
Indeed, there's no denying that Coach Ducky has established a winning culture for Falcons AP.Bren, and one of the key reasons stem from his ability to manage the team outside the Land of Dawn, whether it is through his fitness regimen or his ability to boost the team's morale.
And in managing the team, he drew inspiration from a lot of individuals.
"There are different [sources], but it's just rough imitation of successful coaches, but I definitely look up to Phil Jackson," Coach Ducky said in an exclusive with SPIN.ph.
"I think he is one of the most, if not, the best or the most successful, probably the best coach ever," he reflected.
Coaching legends
Phil Jackson may have benefitted from coaching the best players in the scene as seen from Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen, or that time when he had Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O'Neal, but Jackson had a hand in evolving these teams from contenders into legends.
Before the Bulls Dynasty happened, Jackson had to fix the chemistry of those 90s Bulls, plus he had to make sure that Pippen becomes the elite level tandem that Jordan needed, while addressing Dennis Rodman's volatile personality.
Then when he entered the Lakers, Jackson had to solve the tensions between Kobe and Shaq, which have been brewing ever since.
By solving his team's crisis, Jackson proved that coaching isn't just about getting superstars, as it is also important to mold them into a winning formula, something that Coach Ducky has applied.
On the outside, Coach Ducky may have been renowned for his ability to meme the community, but there is more to Ducky than meets the eye.
"His (Phil Jackson) tenacity. He's been around for a very long time. He is just that guy that I feel like if I end up as his player, he'll constantly push to do your sh*t together," revealed the M-series winning coach.
CEEEEEEEEEEEB's saving grace
But besides Phil Jackson, there have been other prominent figures who have influenced one of the greatest MLBB coaches in the scene.
While it may seem like Ducky has been devoted to MLBB throughout his career, he admitted that he also follows the Dota 2 scene. He did reveal that Clinton "Fear" Loomis is his favorite Dota player, but it was two time TI-champ, Sebastian "Ceb" Debs, who forged Ducky's coaching instincts.
"He is one of those figures (CEB) when I was starting out as coach. I put some emphasis on the things he has done for his team, particularly what is happening outside the game."
Coach Ducky who has spent most of his time reading through articles and scientific research could only look at videos when studying one of the masterminds of OG's success in Dota 2.
"There are no articles or biographies about his coaching style, so what I did was look for videos that has interactions between him and the team. I use him as reference, like how does he approach conflict, resolution, stuff like that."
Looking at the videos, Ceb is renowned for being an optimistic figure for OG, whether as a player or a coach. When his team was faced with a monumental task, Ceb's strategic prowess and his positive mental attitude would be key for OG.
