ON THE SIDELINES of Farlight 84's launch in Quezon City on August 25, Tier One co-founder Alodia Gosiengfiao finally spoke about the break of Blacklist International's "Royal Duo" V33Wise.
In early August, Blacklist announced that OhMyV33nus and Wise are taking a break from the MPL-PH Season 12, the qualifier tournament for the M5 World Championship that will be held in the Philippines. As a result of V33Wise not playing in Season 12, they will also not be eligible to represent the Philippines if Blacklist secures a slot for the world championship.

Alodia Gosiengfiao speaks up about V33Wise's break

In an exclusive interview with SPIN.ph, Alodia says V33Wise deserves a rest.
"The break of V33Wise, was, I can't say if it's a long time coming, but they've done a really great job for the team so I think they really deserve to have a rest, so we respect that because they've already given a lot to the team," said Alodia.
V33Wise opens up about why they left
In an August 15 podcast with Dark League Studios's Toriyama, V33Wise revealed the reason why they decided to skip the M5 Qualifier.
“Season 11 really drained us. As we headed into the playoffs, I made up my mind that regardless of the outcome, even if we secured a spot in MSC, Wise and I needed a break at MSC 2023.”
According to OhMyV33nus, they had a discussion with Blacklist CEO Tryke Gutierrez about their proposed break in MSC 2023 but they did not realize that it was no longer allowed to switch the roster, prompting the duo to suit up for the international tilt and postpone their break to Season 12.
“When we communicated our MSC plans to Sir Joy (MPL-PH's head of League Operations), he responded with a chuckle, reiterating that altering the lineup [for MSC] wasn’t permissible.”
MOONTON Responds
In a statement released to the MPL Philippines Press Corps, MOONTON Games clarified that MOONTON had informed Blacklist International of deadlines and roster lock-ins early on.
"MSC rules were communicated early on and there were no pushbacks regarding it. The league aligned this with the teams ahead of MPL Season 11 and MSC 2023, especially because of the updates on age restrictions," MOONTON said.
Keith Medrano, MOONTON's regional PR manager, further added, "We are glad that all teams, including theirs, were cooperative with us when we relayed this. OhMyV33nus and Wise made the country proud for their recent MLBB esports runs and we respect their decision to take a rest this season. I hope we all look forward to seeing the exciting and elevated MPL Philippines Season 12 in September,” said Medrano.
