A MAJOR billiards tournament has been named in honor of Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes.
The World Nineball Tour on Friday announced the formation of Reyes Cup to be held in Manila from October 17 to 20.

The tournament, in partnership with Puyat Sports Inc., and UK-based broadcast network Sky Sports, will have Asia’s best players taking on Team Europe in its first edition.
Matchroom Sport, which will stage the event, is the same group that organized the 1999 World 9-Ball Championship where Reyes won a historic championship.

The competition is similar to the Mosconi Cup where Team USA plays against Team Europe. Now entering its 30th edition, the tournament is named after Willie Mosconi, another highly-regarded American pool player.
Reyes is considered the best pool player in the world with his numerous titles across the globe.
“I am truly humbled and honored that Matchroom has chosen to name this prestigious event after me,” said 'The Magician' in a statement.
"I am excited to see the pool community come together for its first edition in the Philippines."
