THE Philippines reclaimed the World Cup of Pool crown as James Aranas and Johann Chua beat the Germans in the final, 11-7, on Sunday in Lugo, Spain.

The Filipino pair defeated Joshua Filler and Moritz Neuhausen, topping the prestigious tournament 10 years after Dennis Orcollo and Lee Vann Corteza won it.

Efren “Bata” Reyes and Francisco “Django” Bustamante were the inaugural champions in 2006, with the Filipino legends winning it again in 2009.

The Philippines’ four titles in the tournament are the most by any country.

Unseeded in the tournament, Aranas and Chua got off to a strong start, stunning last year's champions David Alcaide and Francisco Sanchez Ruiz of Spain, 7-5.

the Filipinos beat another Spanish team in the second round in Jonas Sauto Comino and Jose Alberto Delgado of Spain, 7-2.

The next two matches for the Philippines saw nailbiters in wins over Chinese Taipei's Ko Pin-Yi and Ko Ping-Chung, 9-8, in the quarterfinals and Austria's Albin Ouschan and Mario He, 9-8.
