"I'm attending Ateneo de Manila University because I want to continue my education in another Jesuit school," Bahay said. "The opportunity to play right away is another reason I considered in making this decision."
The reigning Cesafi High School MVP from Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu wil be eligible to play for the Blue Eagles for five years starting next season.
The sharp-shooting point guard will be joining former SHS-ADC Magis Eagles Raffy Celis and Michael Asoro ar Ateneo, along with former Batang Gilas teammates Kyle Gamber, Lebron Nieto, Kobe Demisana, and Mason Amos.
Ateneo clarification
Amid poaching accusations, Ateneo said Blue Eagles head coach Tab Baldwin and team manager Epok Quimpo met with Bahay in Cebu only after news of the player withdrawing his commitment to UP came out early this month.
“We’re really happy that Jared opted to come to Ateneo. We’re very excited, knowing that he will be a significant part of our program moving forward,” said Baldwin.
