THE dizzying players' movement in the UAAP is far from over.

Sources told SPIN.ph that University of Santo Tomas high school star Andrei Dungo is set to leave the Tigers' lair for La Salle, just days after earning a spot in the Mythical Team of the UAAP high school tournament.

Dungo, a discovery of Pampanga governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda, averaged 14.86 points, 8.07 rebounds, 4.36 assists, and 2.79 steals in his sole season for UST after transfering from San Beda Taytay just last June.

The 6-3 forward was said to be courted by both University of the Philippines and Letran. But a La Salle insider bared that it was Dungo’s parents themselves who initiated his transfer to the Taft Avenue-based squad.

But one question remains: If Pineda is on his way to become the new backer of Letran in the NCAA, why isn’t Dungo heading to the Knights?.

Here’s what another source told us.

“Eh, nauna na kausap ang La Salle nung pamilya ng bata. Ganun naman si Gov, hindi naman siya madamot sa players n'ya. Saka marami pang players si Gov in case tumuloy siya sa Letran, marami pa siyang bibitbitin dun na bago, malalaki pa,” said a source inside the camp of the Pampanga governor.

Dungo should be a major boost to an already formidable frontline of La Salle, which just days ago also secured the commitment of Luis Pablo from UP.

Major setback for UST rebuilding

In the same vein, Dungo’s exit will be a major setback in the rebuilding plans of the Tigers under the guidance of coach Pido Jarencio and the backing of San Miguel Corp. through alumnus Alfrancis Chua.

Dungo's move comes just days after University of Perpetual Help, which recently installed Barangay Ginebra deputy Olsen Racela as its new coach, lost two players from the stable of Pineda in Jun Roque and prolific point guard Carlo Ferreras.

Ferreras, sources said, is bound for Letran.

Do the moves have anything to do with the brewing rivalry between Pineda and the SMC group?

“Wala namang ganun. Nagkataon lang siguro,” said a source.
