HARVEY Pagsanjan hopes that University of the East will be able to land a foreign player to boost their chances of winning in the UAAP.
Pagsanjan said he is confident in the future of the Red Warriors despite ending up with a 0-14 win-loss record in UAAP Season 84.
“Mahirap tanggapin na 0-14 pero nakita mo naman na bata talaga ‘yung team. Wala kaming import. ‘Yun talaga ang big factor. Mismatch kami lagi sa game,” said Pagsanjan.
The last time UE had an import was in 2019 when Alex Diakhite played for the Red Warriors after his transfer from Diliman College. Diakhite, however, is no longer eligible after playing for a professional ballclub in Africa.
Jamike Jarin and the Red Warriors end up winless in Season 84.
Pagsanjan had a solid outing on Sunday with 13 points and five rebounds against Adamson. UE kept the game close before bowing, 65-53.
The former Hope Christian High School standout though is looking at the bright side of their disappointing season with the experience he gained, including his team-up with rookie Clint Escamis this year.
“Looking forward na lang sa next season. Kung wala man kaming import next season, at least alam na namin kung paano maglaro as a team kahit walang import. Pero sana meron kaming import next season para mas maganda,” said Pagsanjan.
“Siguro malungkot kami na ganun ang outcome ng season namin dahil hindi kami nanalo. Sinabi nga ni coach Jamike lagi na maging unselfish bawat game at dapat natututo ka. Sa susunod na season, kaming dalawa (ni Clint) marami kaming season na lalaruin. Kailangan namin mag-grow as a player,” said Pagsanjan.
