ONE more year awaits Chris Koon at Ateneo.
After playing through UAAP Season 86 with a fractured left foot, Koon has now decided to stay with the Blue Eagles for his final playing year, the Blue Eagles guard said in an Instagram post on Wednesday.

“I’m excited to say that I will be coming back for next season. The road to recovery and preparation starts now and I can’t wait to go through this journey together with all of you,” Koon wrote.
Koon’s decision to stay keeps at least one senior onboard for Ateneo’s Season 87 campaign following the departures of Jason Credo and incoming third-year ace Kai Ballungay.

Roughly three weeks since Ateneo’s title defense ended in the Final Four versus University of the Philippines, the once-undecided Koon now stands firm on seeking redemption in his UAAP swan song.
“To the Ateneo community, I want to thank you for being patient with me as I was figuring out my future after the season ended. It was an emotional year filled with lots of growth and learning experiences.

"We didn’t achieve the outcome we desired but I’m glad to have gone through it with our amazing coaches, management, fans, and of course my teammates. I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such amazing people here at Ateneo. With that, there is still much work to be done.”
In Season 86, Koon played the most minutes for the Blue Eagles and ranked ninth overall in the league (407:03 min, 27:08 mpg) with averages of 9.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 2.9 assists in 15 games.
He also finished eighth in assists (44 ast, 2.94 apg) ninth in total free throws made (34 fts, 2.27 fpg).
