SJ Belangel boosted his side's semifinal bid as Daegu KOGAS Pegasus drew first blood in their best-of-five quarterfinal series in the Korean Basketball League (KBL) playoffs on Saturday.
The former Gilas Pilipinas guard fired 13 points, and collected five assists, three rebounds, and two steals in the 67-64 escape at Suwon KT Arena.
The no. 5 Daegu stunned the fourth-seed Suwon behind Jeong Seong-woo's 20 points to gain the upper hand in the duel.

Newly minted KBL Rookie of the Year JD Cagulangan only had four points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in the Game One loss.
The winner of the series will take on the top-seed Seoul SK Knights in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, Javi Gomez de Liaño's near-double-double effort went to waste in Anyang Jung Kwan Jang's narrow 87-84 loss to Ulsan Hyundai Mobis Phoebus at Dongcheon Gymnasium on Sunday.
The ex-Terrafirma forward chipped in eight points, eight rebounds, and three assists in the Anyang defeat against the no. 3 Ulsan.
They were no match to the Mobis Phoebus' 1-2 punch of Sean Long and Gaige Prim who combined for 39 points and 11 rebounds in the series opener.
Carl Tamayo and the rest of Changwon LG Sakers await the winner of this series in the final four.
