ZAVIER Lucero is officially a member of NorthPort, signing a two-year deal with the Batang Pier.
Lucero’s agent Marvin Espiritu of the Espiritu Manotoc Basketball Management and NorthPort team manager Pido Jarencio confirmed the deal that was signed with his player still in the United States recovering from an ACL injury he sustained while playing for University of the Philippines.

The 6-foot-6 Lucero’s upside obviously drew NorthPort to pick him early even with the injury, and the Batang Pier used their No. 5 pick to select the Concord, California native.
Lucero is not expected to immediately play for the Batang Pier for the coming PBA season due to the injury, but his camp is optimistic about a recovery sooner than later after he got hurt during the UAAP Season 85 finals last December.

Lucero averaged 11.36 points for the Fighting Maroons last season in the UAAP, second behind Carl Tamayo. He also had 5.29 rebounds, 1.93 assists, and 1.43 steals in 14 games, all but one in an off-the-bench role.
Lucero won a Mythical Five award in the UAAP Season 84 in 2022 where the Fighting Maroons won the championship.
