RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao said the decision of management to wear retro jerseys is a testament to the PBA franchise's proud legacy.
The Elasto Painters had a blast from the past on Wednesday when they sported their old Welcoat Dragons jersey to pay homage to their early days in the defunct Philippine Basketball League (PBL) in 1996.

Rain or Shine completed the celebration by beating Converge, 110-90, with Beau Belga registering the franchise’s first triple double by a local player.
Guiao said he feels even prouder of the franchise, saying their old jerseys celebrate the good name the ballclub co-owned by Terry Que and Raymund Yu has protected all these years.
“It feels good to wear ‘yung ganitong jersey and uniform. Maraming nagko-comment na gusto nila ‘yung Dragons, gusto nila ‘yung history ng franchise. Kaya ako nagse-settle sa franchise na ‘to kasi it protected its good name all throughout,” said Guiao.

“Inalagaan nila ‘yung pangalan nila na they will play by the rules and they will play fair and they will be ethical,” said Guiao.
Guiao said the retro jersey is also a way to recognize the people that have been behind the franchise's success all these years.
“It’s a good way to recognize ‘yung tao na dito nanggaling ‘yan, hanggang ngayon Welcoat sila, Rain or Shine Sila, and ethically and character of the team, hindi naman nag-iba.”
“There are ups and downs but ‘yung character ng team at values ng team, hindi nag-iiba,” said Guiao.
Guiao said it will be up to management on whether they will wear the retro jerseys again.
“Hindi ko alam eh, pero sinwerte eh, baka maulit pa. Hindi natin alam. Mga bossing namin ang nagde-decide,” said Guiao.
