JAMIE Malonzo dressed but did not see action on Wednesday during Barangay Ginebra’s debut in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup.
Malonzo was on the bench, but was not called coach Tim Cone in the Gin Kings’ breezy 101-80 win over Terrafirma.

Cone later explained that Malonzo missed practices ahead of the match against Terrafirma due to knee issue, but was quick to allay fears of him missing more games.
“We kind of played with a short lineup. Jamie just came off a knee problem. He only had a couple of practices. We held him out,” said Cone.
The rotation became much shorter for Ginebra when Jeremiah Gray suffered an injury in his right knee that forced the team to sit him out for the rest of the game. LA Tenorio also didn’t see action after a US trip in relation to his duties as Gilas Pilipinas Youth coach.
Still, the Gin Kings got the job done against Terrafirma by building a big lead that allowed Cone to go deep into the roster. That might not be the case on Friday as it goes up against a formidable foe in San Miguel on Friday.
“We were playing with a pretty short line-up. We hope to get them back in time for San Miguel,” said Cone.
